About Damask Rose

Damask Rose is a coffee shop in Oakland, California. It is listed at 6606 Shattuck Ave., Oakland, CA 94609, which places it among the local businesses of Oakland that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 7 am–6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. Its website is damask-rose.square.site, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 on Google across 292 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded coffee shops in Oakland.

Oakland is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Oakland is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Damask Rose is genuinely my favorite cafe in the Berkeley/Oakland area. I adore the beautiful space, the women that operate it are so lovely, and of course, their coffee is delicious. I always get the iced rose latte, and it's been perfect every single time. It's such a cute cafe visually, with beautiful natural lighting, and a few tables out front in the sun. It's also owned by a Muslim woman, fully operated by women and they're an active participant in our community with great morals. Can't recommend this place enough! 10/10

Having just finished finals and prepping for a challenge at work, I decided to have a me day and start it at Damask Rose. Having become aware of this place while searching for more interesting coffee spots, I decided to come absorb the atmosphere while enjoying a caffeinated beverage and treat. Upon entering the unassuming store front, the hanging vines, roses and other flowers greeted me. At the register I was greeted and ordered a hot rose latte and warbat to enjoy before moving on to other adventures. The latte was quite good. I could taste the rose but it wasn't overly floral or perfumed, which rose can be. The warbat was packed with pistachios, and was honeyed but without being overly sweet or sticky owing to whatever fat was used in prepping the pastry. The music was lovely, the people watching was relaxing, and I will not only be taking assume treats home, I plan to return again and hopefully often!

I was pretty disappointed with the coffee. I got a cappuccino. Way too hot and the quality was so so by the time I was able to drink it. I couldn’t finish it. Silk almond and Oatly vegan milks. Coffee is a 3/5 Tasty middle eastern style pastries though. I’ll come back for that! Nice staff πŸ’œ Cute atmosphere to stay a while. Come for the vibe but skip the coffee.

Really lovely local spot! Enjoyed a hot tea and some pastries, but I will be back for the savory foods! The staff was so kind and helpful.

TLDR: Overall: Adorable, vibey rose-themed cafe with unique drinks and sweets. My Order: Pistachio Latte (Hot) & Rose Latte (Hot) Price Breakdown: $15 total for both drinks (large) Halal/Vegetarian Friendly: N/A, but Palestinian owned! Would get again: Likely, especially their colder drinks and desserts just because I love roses and rose-flavored things so much. A very cute place in Rockridge! The cafe is beautifully decorated (perfect for the insta pics iykwim), and smells phenomenal. I discovered this place in my attempts to go cafe hopping, as was drawn in by the roses! I constantly forget I am not the biggest fan of coffee however, but even then I did enjoy the drinks (they were a bit pricey, but at this point most drinks seem to be around this price range unfortunately). The rose latte had a strong rose syrup underlying the coffee, though I almost wish there was just a bit more sweetness to it. I loved how light and fluffy the pistachio latte was - very cozy!
